September 19, 1950 - February 5, 2014

Obituary & Service Info

Roxanne Storie, age 63, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah, surrounded by her loving daughter Aubrey, her partner in life Scott Collins and her best friends Katie Lightfoot and Brenda Hill.
Roxanne was born September 19, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas and has enjoyed living in Savannah for the past three years.  Prior to moving to Savannah, Roxanne resided in Shawnee Kansas for twenty plus years, working in outside sales.
Roxanne’s number one love in life was her daughter, Aubrey Anne.  Her other passions were gardening, reading, travel, laughing and making others laugh. She had a unique emphasis for home decorating and loved the thrill of the hunt, perusing the antique and consignment stores for that special hidden treasure for her home.  She had an eye for unusual accessories, or that perfect piece of furniture that made a statement.  Gardening was another of Roxanne’s great loves.  Getting her hands dirty, turning the earth, planting and caring for flowers, to make her home a source of pride. Roxanne was a voracious reader, making the most of the public library, never checking out less than three books at a time, always excited to get home and start on that next “great read”.  Her call to help others led to volunteering in the Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church's grade school tutoring program, assisting second graders learning to read.  She also loved to travel, admiring the architecture of homes in other regions, seeing new sites, and the fun of meeting new people.
Everyone brings a gift to this world and Roxanne brought many.  She lived to make people laugh, feel good about themselves, and to enjoy every moment. Roxanne loved having friends over for cocktails, attending, as well as hosting parties, great music and dancing the night away.  Roxie was all about having fun and warming the hearts of those she loved.  She had a “larger than life” personality; people were naturally drawn to her.  Wherever Roxanne was, the atmosphere brightened, people laughed a little louder, and everyone felt an energy that only Roxanne radiated.  Roxanne remains a part of every soul she touched.  She will be dearly missed.
Roxanne’s family includes her partner in life Scott Collins, daughter Aubrey Storie of Savannah, son Jason Lancaster, mother Nancy Thurman, three sisters Jenny Roland, Tobie Thurman, Libby Thurman, four brothers, Shawn Thurman, Pirk Thurman, Coble Thurman, Andy Thurman and was preceded in death by her father Jack Thurman and brother Dean Thurman.
