Dorothy Chisholm Wallace

Dorothy Chisholm Wallace, widow of Dr. Stuart M. Wallace died Sunday afternoon, April 19 in Savannah, Ga. She was 91. She was the matriarch of eight children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren and their spouses, two great grandchildren and many grand-dogs and cats.

Mrs. Wallace was under the constant care of You First Home Care, and surrounded by loving family when she passed away.
Mrs. Wallace was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., but established her family in Savannah and became a tightly woven thread in the city’s fabric. Knowing no one upon arrival, Dr. and Mrs. Wallace joined the 3Gs; a fun-loving supper club of seven couples who Guzzled, Gulped and Gabbed together for more than 20 years.
Genealogy and history was as important to Mrs. Wallace as her family. She was a founding and active member of the Savannah Genealogical Society, kept volumes of personal research and filled her hallways with photos of family past and present. Once, while looking at a large family tree, one of her grandchildren asked her if any of those people were important.
“All of them,” Mrs. Wallace said. “Without them, you wouldn’t be here today.”
Mrs. Wallace was proud of her Scottish heritage, and put time, love and energy into The Coastal Scottish Heritage Society. The organization presented her and her husband The President’s Award for 17 years of voluntary service to the Scottish Games.
Dr. and Mrs. Wallace loved to travel the world, and ventured to Japan, Europe and Australia, many times getting to enjoy the journey with children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Wallace was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Georgia Medical Society, a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member of Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; parents, Dr. Allison and Helen Chisholm; siblings, Gordon Chisholm and Helen Smith; and son-in-law, Jimmy Page.
