Harlan C. Bizzell, 93, of Savannah, died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Savannah Commons, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. 

He was born October 19, 1921 in Norway, South Carolina,  to Zebulon D. and Vera Delle Garick Bizzell.  He retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad in 1981 after working 41 years as a dispatcher.
 
Harlan was a life-long Presbyterian and was a deacon and elder in Hull Memorial Presbyterian Church in Savannah, and was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans.  He was an accomplished wood worker and carpenter.  Harland loved the out-of-doors, particularly fishing, and he was a genius at making up his own jokes.
 
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Gladys Milford Bizzell, his second wife Helen Tucker Bizzell and his sister Henrietta Bizzell Bennett.  He is survived by his daughter Anne Bizzell Salley (George) of Savannah, his son Franklin Bizzell (Julie) of Clermont, FLA grandchildren Amy Salley of Atlanta, Stephen Salley (Elizabeth) of Savannah, Travis Bizzell and Justin Bizzell, both of Ocala, FL, and twin great-grandaughters, Bridget and Evelyn Salley, as well as several nieces and nephews.
 
Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Upper Long Cane Cemetery, Abbeville, SC.
 
Harlan's family wishes to thank Dr. John Demicco, the staff at Savannah Commons, Hospice Savannah and Comfort Keepers for their support and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Savannah (P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, 31416) or to a charity of your choice.
