Lorraine Lauritsen Wohlert

Lorraine Lauritsen Wohlert, age 84, formerly of Edison, New Jersey and North Port, Florida, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879.

The Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 50 Calvert Ave E, Edison, NJ 08820 with Pastor Penelope Stechmann officiating with entombment to follow at Atlantic View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Manasquan, NJ. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 5:00-9:00 PM at Kurzawa Funeral Home.

Lorraine was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on March 26, 1933 to the late Laurits Lauritsen and Betty Soe Jensen Lauritsen. She was a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Edison, New Jersey before joining Living Waters Lutheran Church in North Port, Florida.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her loving husband John in 2009 and the couple celebrated almost 59 years of marriage before his passing. Despite over 40 years of disability she managed to really live a life with faith, joy and laughter.

There are 4 surviving daughters, Linda and Bill Benitz, June and Larry Nikola, Laura Kirk and Janet Wohlert and 2 surviving sons, Laurence Wohlert and John and Lorraine Wohlert Jr. Her oldest son James passed away in 2011 and is survived by his wife Jo Ann.
She has 18 grandchildren: Paul Benitz and Charlotte High, Allison Quincannon, Jillisa Baum, Alana Dickerson, Troy, Lawrence and Kyle Nikola, Daniel, Jamie and Melissa Wohlert, Samantha Pastrana and Ian Kirk, Eric Wilson, Joey, Jack, Julia and Owen Wohlert. There are also 17 great grandchildren: Alice High and Hailey Romans,Trey and Shane Quincannon, Annabelle Morozov, Minka Nikola, Brooke, Alex, Trevor and Brielle Baum, Jordan and Micah Dickerson, Nina Negron, Piper and Parker Pastrana, Aiden Kirk and Hunter Wohlert.

In lieu of flowers, because she was devoted to her church, please donate to one of her church homes. A special thanks to all her caregivers for the compassionate care at Consulate Healthcare and Tidewell Hospice both of Port Charlotte.
