Emma Roberta Bossong, 92 of Lakewood, NJ, formerly of Sayreville, passed away peacefully at the Atlantic Coast Care Center October 6, 2017.

Emma, known as Roberta to her friends, was born in Monteagle, Tennessee on April 9th, 1925 to the late Samuel and May Mankin. She was married to the late Arthur F. Bossong. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters Arlene Hayden, Kathleen Schwarzenberg and Charlene Dzielak, her beloved grandchildren David Hayden, Joseph and Sandra Dzielak and Allison Timashev, her dear great grandchildren Jennifer Vouzis, Emily Ann and Megan Jo Christensen, and her great great grandson, Konstantine Vouzis.

Roberta was preceded in death by her sisters Thelma Kissee and Gearlene Hamm.

Roberta was a devout communicant of the First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy since 1990. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary since 1948 and the leader of Girl Scout Troop 201 from 1955-1975. Emma was deeply involved politically with civic organizations and stood proud as a staunch Republican.

Services are under the direction and care of the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 from 4-7pm in the chapel of Kurzawa Funeral Home. The funeral will commence Wednesday morning Oct. 11th, at 10:30 am, with a brief gathering at the funeral home chapel immediately followed by a Protestant service at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 150 North Broadway, South Amboy, NJ.
